Mora Clocks
The small village of Mora in northwest Stockholm has given the name to the much beloved Mora clock. During the 18th Century the movements were made by hand by different artisans around Mora. The female looking cases were made all over the country each shape representing what part of the country they originated. These beautiful clocks were often given to newlyweds as wedding gifts.
The making of the Mora clocks has almost disappeared because of high taxes and labor costs. However, their undeniable charm will live on forever.
